I started Compact Camera Hire to make digital camera hire in Sydney simple and affordable, so travellers, content creators and anyone with a trip or event coming up can shoot high-quality photos and video without buying a camera outright.
Why I started it
I spent four years working in content creation and media, and the same thing kept coming up: people wanted good cameras, but not the price tag, the bulk, or the learning curve that comes with professional gear. So I built the service around compact, consumer-friendly cameras that are easy to pick up and use straight away, and still deliver results your phone can’t match.
That’s why the range is deliberately small and specific. The Canon PowerShot G7X III and the Fujifilm X100VI are two of the most in-demand compact cameras around, and both are notoriously hard to buy. Hiring means you get to use one for your trip or occasion without joining a waitlist or spending thousands.
How it works
Compact Camera Hire is a mobile service, so there’s no shopfront to visit and nothing to queue for. Choose your dates online, and I’ll deliver the camera free anywhere in Sydney, whether that’s your home, hotel or workplace, then collect it at the end of your hire. If you’d rather collect it yourself, I can arrange a meet-up in Surry Hills.
Every camera is cleaned, tested, charged and loaded with a memory card before it goes out. If you haven’t used one before, I’m happy to run through the settings with you at drop-off so you’re confident from the first shot.
